Traditionally, money collected from cans and bottles receipts has been used to help cover the cost of fuel
for the launches (an ever-increasing expense).
The coaches ride these launch boats during
on-the-water practices.
The club has designated
the EZ Bottle and Can (http://www.ezreturn.org/) location at 1259 Fairport Road
(between Jefferson Rd. and the railroad overpass, opposite Dryclean Express) as our new drop-off point
for cans & bottles.
Anyone who drops off cans and bottles there can have the full 5 cents per bottle
donated to Fairport Crew simply by mentioning the club’s name. If you want a
specific rower/cox to get credit, mention his or her name when you bring your cans,
and the owner will track that, too. (Keep your receipts if you want to verify your
rower’s credits later.) FCC will receive a check every month that the club's total
tops $50.
A sign with FCC’s name will be posted on the wall, so even strangers can donate
their proceeds, too. Be sure to encourage your friends and neighbors to take their
cans there. If the club decides to conduct a bottle drive at some point, EZ Bottle
and Can will help us with that as well.
The location is easy to access as you’re traveling east on 31F. You can pull right
up to the door, and an employee does the counting for you, so you're out the door
again quickly. It’s open til 7 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
Anyone who prefers to return bottles to Wegmans or another store instead and drop
off receipts at the boathouse is still welcome to do so. Please make sure that your name is written on the back of the receipts before placing them in the box so that you may receive proper credit. Thank you!!
