Rowing is a demanding team sport. It requires a considerable time committment for rowers and their families. On the positive side team members often develop close friendships that last a lifetime.

Is Rowing For You?
Registration
Dues
FCC is a non-profit organization funded by participation fees, donations and fundraising. The dues for Winter Conditioning are $210 with a $15 discount if you register early. If a rower needs financial assistance, you can contact our President, Bruce Weick, at bruceweick@hotmail.com. Put "membership" in the subject line.
Uniforms
All rowers are required to have a unisuit. Additional clothing such as shirts, jackets, etc. are optional. Items are purchased through our uniform & clothing coordinator. See our Gear page for details.
Parent Expectations
We ask that our members' parents subscribe to the list-serv, support and assist at our fundraisers, take a
turn or two on our Path Patrol during each season so coaches can focus on teaching, assist with
feeding the members at regattas and to volunteer as new opportunities are identified.
We ask that each parent do at least one thing for the club each season, in addition to providing food for regattas. For more information see our Volunteering page.
Listserv Email
FCC has an email listserv group for our coaches, parents, volunteers and members to facilitate communication. You and your rower must first be a member of FCC to be on our listserv, or you must be an active volunteer. See our listserv page for more information.
Practice
We practice and race in all kinds of weather with the exception of thunderstorms. Practice is continued in the
boathouse during thunderstorms. However, if the Fairport Schools are closed or have canceled after-school and evening activities due to snow, then FCC activities will also be cancelled. While every effort is made to give as much advance notice as possible about cancellations, sometimes short notice is unavoidable. Notice of cancellations will be made on this website and sent on the list-servs. Rowers and parents are encouraged to call the FCC boathouse (585 - 377-2458) for confirmation of a cancellation
Rowers are expected to attend all practices, especially prior to a race. If a practice or race must be missed, the rower is responsible for finding a substitute. If a sub is not found, realize that none of the other rowers in that boat will be able to practice or race.
It is FCC policy to encourage our youth to give their schoolwork a higher priority than they give to crew.
Eligibility
Members of FCC are in 9th through 12th grades inclusive. Crew at a younger age is generally considered unsafe for the child's joints. Contact FCC President, Bruce Weick, to discuss this if more information is needed.
Youth may apply for membership at the start of the fall season after completing a Learn to Row course or at the start of the winter conditioning program. Traditionally, the fall season starts at the end of August and the winter conditioning program starts in February.
